Celebrating, protecting our libraries during National Library Week

Congressman Rick Boucher, Main Street Newspapers.com

The week of April 15- 21 has been designated as National Libraries Week and is a time to celebrate the many contributions that libraries and librarians make everyday in our communities.

The educational and community benefits that our public libraries provide are seemingly limitless. Libraries serve as information resources for school projects, homework, and research papers, and instill in our children a love of reading and knowledge. Libraries serve as gateways for users to explore different worlds, communicate with experts in a particular field, or participate in classes and lectures.
